About Me

The oldest Son of a family of five, I grew up with a rich spiritual legacy. I am the Son, Grandson and Great-Grandson of a line of powerful Ministers. My Great-Grandmother, the late Rev. Mary K. Waymon was a pioneer in founding the Christian Methodist Episcopal demonination in the south during the early 1900’s. My Grandmother, the late Evangelist Lucille Waddell became very well known on the east coast in the 50’s and 60's for her POWERFUL sermons with signs and wonders following. And my Mother, the late Minister Robin Thomas, was a gem in her generation and an example of wisdom personified in her ability to expound on the word and put it into everyday practicality.

The word of God has always been the foundation for everything in our family. In addition to the family’s love for the word, has been our love for music! The world recognized my family’s musical ability in the person of my Great-Aunt, world reknowned blues artist Nina Simone. But our musical heritage starts in church. Almost everyone in my family either sings, or plays an instrument. In fact, my Mother was the choir director for many years and my Dad sang in the choir. The story has been told many times by parents of how I was singing before I could speak. My Father says that I would sing myself to sleep at night as a baby.

I sang in church for the first time when I was 4. Since then music has been a part of my spiritual DNA. I have always known that the Father desired to use me to minister first to him then to others on a large scale. As I grow in my walk with the Father, I grow in my love for the word of God and the things that concern his heart.

In 2001, I released my debut album entitled “Pray” which I now see was prophetic. The title track of the album (Pray) was a strong warning to the body of Christ that we have been given dominion in the earth and that we have a responsibility to join Jesus in Intercession. In 2008, the Lord called me to take my place as a watchman on the wall of intercession (Ezekiel 3) as an intercessory missionary/worship leader with the International House of Prayer, Kansas City.

What IS an Intercessory Missionary anyway; what exactly do I do?

We are all familiar with missionaries who focus on preaching or mercy deeds (providing food, medical care, etc.). But the Lord is calling forth a new type of missionary that is essential to completing the Great Commission. The foundational example of this type of missionary is found in Luke 2:36-38: “Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.” (Luke 2:36-38 NKJV)

Anna prayed night and day in the temple with fasting for over sixty years just prior to the First Coming of Jesus. Anna was the first evangelist that we see in the New Testament. The Holy Spirit is raising up those like Anna once again to pray, fast and preach prior to Jesus’ Second Coming. This “Anna Anointing” transcends gender and age, where men and women, young and old live as intercessory missionaries laboring for the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

Intercession and worship is the means that God has chosen to establish His kingdom on the earth. Prayer changes the spiritual atmosphere over cities and nations (Matthew 6:10, Psalm 149). Prayer brings us into agreement with God’s heart, and from that place of full agreement and partnership God’s kingdom breaks in to the earth.

An intercessory missionary is one who has been divinely “set” on a wall of intercession (Isaiah 62:6-7) as one who would give the Lord no rest in prayer until His desires are fully brought forth on the earth. This intercessory mission calling is entirely selfless by definition – it is a giving of oneself wholeheartedly for one Man’s agenda, with the knowledge that His plan and purpose is far greater than anything man could possibly devise. (Deuteronomy 6:5, Joel 2:17). This calling is done in the “Spirit of the Tabernacle of David” with full time singers and musicians who are “singing theologians” and pray and prophecy on their instruments. This is the full time occupation that God has called me to. IHOP’s Global Prayer Room is just that and is broadcast worldwide LIVE, 24 hours per day via webstream provided by GodTV, to over 200 nations of the earth. Daily, I am privileged to lead the EARTH in Worship and Intercession. I am also HONORED to have the ability to travel part time with the LUKE18 Project. As an extension of IHOP, Luke18 is preparing the way of the Lord the worship, teaching and discipleship on college campuses through the establishment of Prayer furnaces throughout the U.S. and beyond.
