Find Out More About Jaye
Jaye Thomas is a Dove Award nominated singer/songwriter/worship leader of more than twenty years. His journey begins in the foothills of North Carolina where he was raised in a Christian home as one of 3 siblings. Everyone in his family is musical. His Father sang professionally for 25 years, his mother played the piano and all of his Aunts, Uncles and Cousins played or sang. In fact, Jaye is the great-nephew of renowned blues legend, the late Nina Simone (Eunice Waymon). While attending community College Jaye was selected among thousands to the “Brightleaf Music Scholar” program to study short term among the greatest jazz teachers and musicians at Duke University. Upon leaving the scholar program, he went into full-time ministry as a worship pastor at a church in North Florida. It was there that he was encountered by the reality of intercession and wrote and released his first full- length solo album entitled “PRAY”. Though not in print anymore, that album set him on a journey that he hasn’t looked back from. Jaye served as a full time worship leader/intercessor at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, MO for more than a decade as well as gave Direction to the Forerunner Music Academy at IHOPU. Since 2008 he has recorded /been featured on more than 20 albums on the Forerunner Music record label and has written and recorded with artists like, Misty Edwards, Cory Asbury, Davy Flowers, Justin Rizzo, Julie Meyer, Audra Lynn (Hardtke)Huff, Chandler Moore, Dante Bowe, Brandon Lake, Housefires, Michael Ketterer, Bri Babineaux, Dustin Smith, and many others. Some of his most popular co-writes are “Shekinah”, “Reason to Dance”, “Holy Ghost Parties” with Cory Asbury, “Only One”, “Song of Love”, “We Love your name”, “Belong to you” with Dustin Smith and Stephen McWhirter (formerly of IronBell Music), and most recently released a joint project with Chris Tofilon called “Together: LIVE worship from JTL studios” (Watershed Music 2019). Today, Jaye and his wife Nayomi are the full time directors of a non-profit organization they started called Song of Hope Ministries, Inc. which exists to take both the word of God, and the Songs of the Lord to both the church as well as those incarcerated.
Jaye and Nayomi live in Raymore, Missouri with two of their three children: Justice and Addison. Their oldest daughter, Mahan, is married to David and they have a beautiful son named William, making Jaye and Nayomi the most proud Grandparents.
